US President Donald Trump says impeachment motion will fail

The number of Democrats on board with impeachment has grown substantially from last week when they said 73 to 21 percent that Trump should be removed.

A list of high-profile Democratic lawmakers was then shown, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.). He said the whistleblower complaint "underscore [s] the pressing need for complete and meaningful oversight".

Another whistleblower complaint was filed and alleges that "possible misconduct" occurred in an effort to influence the audit of President Donald Trump's taxes.

King also raised questions about potential gaps in the White House reconstruction of the July 25 phone call between the two presidents.

One way or the other - and very likely both ways - the President's charges of "treason" and allusions to a "civil war" represent a discernible change in the tone and content of Mr. Trump's language - a change that matches, or perhaps helped cause, the change in the tone and content of Washington politics generally.

The president harrumphed that Schiff's rendition at the beginning of a Thursday hearing of the House Intelligence Committee "bore NO relationship to what I said on the call".

Thunberg leads massive climate march in Montreal
Thunberg's message has been so effective because, in part, there's a reluctance to it that many of us can relate to. One protester tried to throw an egg at Trudeau but was promptly wrestled to the ground by his security detail.

At issue is a July 25 telephone conversation the US president held with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in which Trump repeatedly pressed Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, over unsubstantiated claims of corruption.

GOP leaders have aggressively defended Trump against accusations that he abused his power when he asked the Ukrainian president to investigate Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son.

Yovanovitch, who was previously scheduled to appear on Capitol Hill this Wednesday, will now do so on October 11 with the agreement of both the Committees and counsel, a congressional aide told CNN Tuesday. "Manafort should be released, along with all people being held in solitary", she wrote. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it. The president, as he often does, complained about the trade deficit in goods with European Union countries, which hit $169.3 billion a year ago.

The whistleblower's August 12 complaint is also transmitted to Congress.

"White House officials told me that they were "directed" by White House lawyers to remove the electronic transcript from the computer system in which such transcripts are typically stored for coordination, finalization, and distribution to Cabinet-level officials", the whistleblower said. Another 30 percent said they have heard "some" details about the Ukraine call. They also noted that some Republicans have come out in favor of protecting whistleblowers.
