Atatiana Jefferson's funeral had been set to be held at Potter's House Church in Dallas.

Jefferson, 28, was babysitting her 8-year-old nephew October 12 at her mother's house in the 1200 block of East Allen Avenue when she heard noises outside.

"The information came from the neighbor to the call-takers and while it was relayed to the dispatch, it was determined to be an open structure call", Chief Kraus said.

Former Fort Worth Police Officer Aaron Dean shot Jefferson, 28, through a back window in the early hours on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019, after a neighbor reported her front door was left open.

CNN has reached out to S. Lee Merritt, the attorney for the Jefferson family, and representatives for Barnes and Jackson for comment. "Officer Darch said that they went into the backyard and Officer Dean was standing between her and the house and she could only see Jefferson's face through the window when Officer Dean discharged his weapon one time", the arrest warrant affidavit reads.

Bishop T.D. Jakes is set to deliver the eulogy and the Rev. Al Sharpton is scheduled to deliver remarks during the funeral of Atatiana Jefferson, who was shot by a Fort Worth police officer in her home on October 12. Dean shot and killed Jefferson within seconds of creeping up to the property and yelling for her to put her hands up. Irvin said Atatiana's mother is not barred from participating, too, if she's able. In those scenarios, police officers in most cases knock on the door and wait for an solution.

"The relationship she has with my sons is indescribable", Carr said. It's a tragic situation. "But the biggest thing is anytime someone has to go through that, the last thing you want to have to worry about is trying to come up with the money for a funeral".

Barnes, an eight-year National Basketball Association veteran, told reporters he wanted to give back to the community.

Barnes played for nearly three seasons with the Dallas Mavericks before being traded to the Kings in February.

Harrison Barnes signed a long-term contract that will keep him in Sacramento for the next four seasons, but before he joined the Kings, Barnes spent two-and-a-half years in Dallas as a member of the Mavericks.

It was hard not to think of her senseless murder-despite differing stories about what happened after the police invaded the house where she lived-with the recent incidents in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas where white cops killed Blacks in their own homes. The officer, Aaron Dean, is charged with murder.
