House to Vote on Trump Impeachment Inquiry This Week

In the prepared remarks, Vindman said that if President Volodymyr Zelenskiy did as Trump asked in the July 25 call and investigated Biden, it would "undermine USA national security".

Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney, a member of Republican leadership, pushed back on conservative commentators, lawmakers and White House officials who have questioned the motives and allegiances of career public servants who have testified before impeachment committees.

William Taylor, the current top diplomat in Ukraine, testified last week that he was told aid to the country would be withheld until it conducted investigations into Trump's potential 2020 Democratic rival Joe Biden and his family, and into Ukraine's involvement in the 2016 US presidential election.

Denying any wrongdoing, Trump has said his call with Zelenskyy was "perfect".

The president then blasted the left-wing party as the "do-nothing Democrats" before denouncing the impeachment inquiry as a "witch hunt" and a "scam".

Vindman is scheduled to be deposed on Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

Vindman, the top Ukrainian expert on the National Security Council, testified behind closed doors on Tuesday that he was concerned over President Donald Trump's July 25 phone call with the president of Ukraine.

"I was concerned by the call", Vindman wrote in the opening statement.

He said he is not the whistleblower, the still unnamed government official who filed the initial complaint over Trump's conversation with the Ukraine president that sparked the House impeachment inquiry.

Her comment came less than an hour after Trump derided Vindman, an Iraq veteran, as a "Never Trumper".

Drake also commissioned Jason of Beverly Hills to make him a separate ring, which has over 30 carats of diamonds. It is trimmed in red, and the names of the players are featured on the sides.

On Monday, Pelosi sent a letter to House Democrats saying the resolution "affirms the ongoing, existing investigation that is now being conducted by our committees" as well as establishing procedures for transfers of documents to the House Judiciary Committee and for "due process rights for the president and his counsel".

Republicans mobilised to undercut Vindman's credibility, questioning his loyalty by noting he immigrated to the United States from the Soviet Union at the age of three, and suggesting he is part of an effort by the U.S. national security bureaucracy to undermine Trump.

President Trump and Republicans in Congress have railed against House Democrats for pursuing an impeachment inquiry without a vote on the floor to authorize the probe.

Vindman says the importance of Ukraine launching an investigation into the Bidens and Burisma was also emphasised by US Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland in a meeting after a visit by a Ukrainian security official to Washington on July 10. "Sondland that his statements were inappropriate", Vindman's statement said. In his prepared testimony, Vindman says he reported his concerns to the NSC's lead counsel.

"Here we have a USA national-security official who is advising Ukraine while working inside the White House apparently against the president's interest", said an incredulous Ingraham on her nightly show.

The White House argued Monday that the move proves Democrats have been conducting an "unauthorized" inquiry.

"I did not think it was proper to demand that a foreign government investigate a United States citizen", Col Vindman says in the statement.

That request by Trump, and accusations he conditioned nearly $400 million in army assist to Ukraine on the political favor, type the premise of the impeachment inquiry that started 5 weeks in the past and now threatens his presidency. "This would undermine USA national security".

The White House has said it will not provide documents or witnesses to House investigators because it considered the impeachment inquiry unfair and illegitimate. This call was the igniting spark of the inquiry, which Trump and his allies have deemed a "hoaxus pocus" (yes really) on their hilariously awful new merch. Just last week, a federal court confirmed that the House is not required to hold a vote and that imposing such a requirement would be "an impermissible intrusion on the House's constitutional authority".
