During an interview last week, President Trump's China advisor Michael Pillsbury said he attempted to discuss the Bidens with Chinese officials while visiting Beijing.

In a statement posted online, Biden's lawyer said he vowed to avoid all foreign business dealings after years of controversy over his ties overseas.

Hunter has also said he would not take any worldwide work, despite his claims that his work Is independent of his father, to eliminate the idea of a conflict of interest.

"Hunter always understood that his father would be guided...by established US policy, regardless of its effects on Hunter's professional interests", read the statement.

More trouble for Trump on Ukraine

Donald Trump and his lawyer Rudy Giuliani have repeatedly said that both Joe and Hunter Biden should be investigated over the general prosecutor's dismissal. Joe Biden has called for a constitutional amendment to publicly finance elections as he unveils an ethics plan pointed at President Donald Trump.

"Folks, do you understand the president of the United States could just say he's covering this [up] by executive privilege and it would never see the light of day?" he asked.

Hunter also said he will not do any work for foreign-owned companies if his father becomes president.

With disclosure of Trump's demands by an USA intelligence community whistleblower, and the White House's subsequent release of a rough account of the Trump-Zelenskiy call confirming the US leader's call for a Ukrainian investigation, Democrats in the House of Representatives opened an impeachment inquiry against Trump.

"He has totally disappeared!"

The lawyer said that if Joe Biden is elected president, Hunter Biden "will readily comply" with any White House strictures on "purported conflicts of interest, or the appearance of such conflicts", along with refraining from serving on any boards of foreign companies or working for them. Trump tweeted on Sunday, adding without evidence the claim it "now looks like [Biden] has raided and scammed even more countries!"

Still, Republicans reacted to news of Hunter Biden's decision to step away from the Chinese-backed BHR Equity Investment Fund Management Company with deep skepticism.

"Despite extensive scrutiny, at no time has any law enforcement agency, either domestic or foreign, alleged that Hunter engaged in wrongdoing at any point during his five-year term".
