Amazon unveils new Fire TV Cube, Fire TV Edition televisions and soundbar

The new Fire TV Cube is a modest, but minor upgrade from the first-generation device. Officially named Grundig OLED - Fire TV Edition Hands-Free with Alexa, that product may be a mouthful, but it won't require a remote for voice control.

The latter models will give you access to all Alexa's usual tricks but also the ability to turn the power on and off, change channels and adjust volume via voice, thanks to far-field mics built in to the TV. "It's still just day 1 for Fire TV", he continued, "as we work to make customers' entertainment experiences easier, more magical, and more enjoyable". The new JVC Fire TV Edition features all the fantastic technology that our customers need to get the most out of their viewing experience across the various streaming services, apps and mainstream channels on offer.

The new device supports 4K Ultra HD, a unified smart TV user interface, near-field Alexa voice control, Dolby Vision pass-through, and more.

It also uses multi-directional infrared technology, HDMI CEC and cloud-based artificial intelligence to allow Alexa to control all your kit, including TVs, AV receivers, and set-top boxes.

"Fire TV Cube was the first hands-free streaming media player powered by Alexa, and since launching previous year we have gathered a wealth of feedback from customers about how they use voice in the living room", Marc Whitten, VP of Amazon Fire TV, said in a news release. Amazon partnered with Chinese brand Anker for the first-ever Fire TV Edition sound bar, a faster Fire TV Cube and a 65-inch Toshiba Fire TV edition with an incredibly appealing price.
