NASA watches Hurricane Dorian flex its muscles

San Juan - President Donald Trump lashed out at Puerto Rico on Wednesday, calling it "one of the most corrupt places on earth" before an approaching hurricane skirted the U.S. territory, stirring up memories of previous devastating storms.

On this track, Dorian is forecast to move over the Atlantic well east of the southeastern and central Bahamas today and on Friday, approach the northwestern Bahamas Saturday, and move near or over portions of the northwest Bahamas on Sunday.

- Hurricane Dorian is strengthening as it continues to eye the coast of Florida and looks to impact the Southeast coast of the U.S.

Dorian had sideswiped the Caribbean without doing major damage but, with the storm strengthening, the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands lay in its path.

The range of outcomes is still wide but it's most likely to hit Florida.

Early on Thursday, the NHC said Dorian was blowing maximum sustained winds of 85 miles per hour some 240 km north-northwest of San Juan, and about 685 km east-southeast of the southeastern Bahamas.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) - The National Hurricane Center says Hurricane Dorian could potentially hit the USA coast as a powerful Category 4 storm.
