Inter approach Manchester United in bid to sign Alexis Sánchez on loan

When Manchester United played Wolves last time around, Solskjaer went into the game with a back three to mirror the formation that Wolves used.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims Alexis Sanchez will play a significant role with Manchester United this season, despite increasing speculation that the Premier League club are trying to offload the highly-paid striker.

Sanchez's United nightmare: Five things to know...

United won the race to sign Sanchez ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester City in January 2018 from Arsenal during a period where the Chile global was widely considered as one of the best forward's in the division.

Sanchez has interest from Serie A clubs ahead of the European transfer window closing on September 2 but his wages may prove an obstacle to a move. There are still a few days until we play.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to try and maintain their solid start to the campaign after they were 4-0 winners over Chelsea FC in their Premier League opener last weekend.

David de Gea had a very good game against Chelsea as he made a couple of very good saves and ensured a clean sheet for United.

Speaking at his morning press conference, Solskjaer said Sanchez is firmly part of his plans and wants to be part of the Manchester United team.

"It's these stories again that he's been put in the reserves and all this - of course he hasn't". He's had three weeks now, he's a few weeks behind the rest but he's close to being part of it.

What are United's goals?

"Because we expect him to come good at this club". 'We've had a behind closed doors game.

Solskjaer claims Sanchez will remain at Old Trafford to offer competition to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in attack.

"He'll be gradually integrated into more playing time, but we'll have more behind closed doors games and with only one (competitive) game a week it's hard to keep players ticking".

Martial's close-range strike was particularly pleasing for former striker Solskjaer, who played him through the middle and wants the France global to score more tap-ins.
