But given Chan's post-Crazy Rich Asians star power, continuity may not be Marvel's biggest concern.
Marvel Studios is yet to confirm any of this, but while some actors have appeared in different roles from MCU films to TV, it is not often that an actor is brought back for a different role. Next in line to join the forthcoming Marvel movie's cast (which now includes the likes of Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, to name but a few) is Gemma Chan. At the moment we do not know if the role that Chan will hold will be precisely that of Minn-Erva or will play a totally new character; according to some scooper, in fact, Chan could impersonate a new "role" that, in casting calls, was called Karen.

But Ankara sees it as an offshoot of the Kurdish PKK, which has fought a bloody insurgency inside Turkey for the past 35 years. Washington has supported the YPG as the main fighting force against the Islamic State group in Syria.
Whether Chan is a new character or not, it's a welcome addition to an already awesome cast. If Chan is indeed cast in The Eternals, it will be the first time a star plays two different characters in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).
This will be Chan's second Marvel role after she was recently seen essaying Kree sniper Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel. Interestingly, it doesn't sound as though Chan will be reprising that role in The Eternals.
The Eternals is being directed by Chloe Zhao (The Rider, Songs My Brother Taught Me). They have super strength, flight, teleportation, mind control, shape-shifting and energy projection. They were created from alien experiments on ancient human millions of years ago. Production is expected to begin later this year. It opens in November 2020. They created two races, the Eternals and the Deviant who are constantly in conflicts as time goes on.
