Burger King will sell plant-based Whopper across US

The Miami, Florida-based fast-food company said customers starting August 8 can purchase the plant-based burgers in one of its 7,000 US locations.

To help facilitate taste tests, Burger King is offering a deal through its app and DoorDash orders through September 1, offering both an Impossible Whopper and an original Whopper for $7. Diners can also have the Impossible Whoppers delivered via the Doordash or Burger King mobile apps.

The chain said the burger will be available, for a limited time, at more than 7,000 locations coast to coast on August 8.

Customers can also opt for the "Impossible Taste Test" - a two-Whopper combo deal of one real and one Impossible burger - for $7 and no delivery fee, with the code IMPOSSIBLE at checkout.

But Finazzo doesn't anticipate more Impossible shortages at Burger King.

Burger King is testing out a meatless version of the Whopper.

Burger King first tested its plant-based substitute product in St. Louis back in April and was expanded to six other markets.

"It's driven new guests into the restaurant", says Chris Finazzo, Burger King's president for the Americas.

"There's no reason to believe that this won't earn a more permanent place on our menu", he said.

The plant-based protein company now serves its product in about 10,000 restaurants.

The burger will be served in 7,000 Burger King locations across the country, the company announced.

In the past, Impossible has struggled to meet demand.
