Barry Bennett's son extradited from Mexico

A man wanted on charges of killing his mother and father, a retired National Football League player, in Minnesota was arrested in Mexico's beach resort city of Cancun and handed over to the FBI, Mexican officials said on Sunday (Aug 25).

On Saturday, the Quintana Roo Attorney General's Office announced the arrest of 22-year-old Dylan John Bennett. According to CNN, a sheriff's investigator in Todd County has filed a complaint in district court accusing Bennett of two counts of second-degree murder without premeditation. His mother Carol, who would have been 64 Thursday and his 63-year-old father Barry Bennett who played 11 seasons for the National Football League, were found shot to death at their home on Wednesday August 21 in the small town of Long Prairie, Minnesota.

The Todd County Sheriff's Office, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI and the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force, police from Illinois, Ohio, Georgia and Mexico all worked together to arrest Bennett.

Carol Bennett's credit and debit cards were used in Wisconsin, Illinois and OH on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

A criminal complaint was signed Friday against Bennett, charging him with the shooting deaths of his parents.

Barry was found lying in the entryway and Carol's body was discovered on the kitchen floor.
