Rajasthan leg-spinner Chahar has been rewarded for his consistent show in the IPL and domestic cricket with a berth in the Twenty20 squad. Middle-order batsmen Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey, and left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed, have also been recalled to the ODI squad, with Dinesh Karthik, who was India's reserve keeper at the World Cup, missing out.
Promising batsman Shubman Gill, though, missed out on selection.
Also, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravichandran Ashwin, Hanuma Vihari and Umesh Yadav have made a return to the Test squad. His replacement Pant, 21, has used his chances well and hit a century in an Oval Test past year while also smashing an unbeaten 159 against Australia in Sydney in January. He remains very popular across India for leading the side to 2011 World Cup triumph.
The white-ball squads include a pair of uncapped players.
The Test squad also has nearly the same look from the last time with a lot of them picking themselves and Bumrah coming back for the Test Championship.
Pandya and Bumrah have been given rest as part of Indian cricket board's workload management program.
Philip Hammond to quit as Chancellor over No Deal Brexit fears
Home Secretary Sajid Javid , who has given his backing to Mr Johnson, is favourite to replace Philip Hammond as Chancellor. Many business leaders have warned that a no-deal Brexit would be nothing less than catastrophic for the British economy.
That is why he has not made it part of the team for the West Indies tour.
"We have taken India "A" performances into consideration", Prasad explained. Saha and K S Bharat will come into picture at some point. We have an unwritten norm when a senior cricketer is injured, he should get a comeback opportunity.
"He is unavailable for this series, he has expressed his unavailability", chief selector MSK Prasad said. This will be India's first assignment post ICC World Cup. Dhawan has recovered from his injury. Bhuvneshwar Kumar will spearhead the attack in the shortest format with Mohammed Shami joining him for the three ODIs.
The selectors could also look at the likes of Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, and Avesh Khan apart from regular pacers Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who could be retained.
"We did discuss with him [Dhoni's future]".
Dhoni retired from Test cricket in 2014 and while he has remained a mainstay of India's one-day teams, his form dipped during the World Cup and speculation has mounted about when he will call it a day.
India vs West Indies Tours starts with three T20Is, which will be followed by three ODIs and two Tests.
