Arsenal need to "gamble" in the summer transfer market and spend beyond their budget, says Ray Parlour.

Jenkinson made three Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season and now appears set for a move away from The Emirates.

As reported by The Sun, the Spanish tactician wants his superiors to "break the bank" for the Ivory Coast worldwide, who is a boyhood Gunners fan.

Arsenal have been scouting the 21-year-old Frenchman since the failed negotiations at the start of the year so it wouldn't be surprising if the club meets the asking price.

It's no secret that Arsenal's squad has a number of gaping holes in it.

Celtic fans will no doubt be hoping that Tierney is the only player that leaves Parkhead for the Premier League.

These Big Little Lies Stars Will Reunite for Ryan Murphy's The Prom
The one and only Meryl Streep will star as Dee Dee Allen, a Tony-winning stage actress whose career is foundering. It's the first movie project announced under Murphy's Netflix deal.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the coming weeks on Wilfried Zaha's future but he is now in Egypt for the African Cup Of Nations and his Ivory Coast side will play its first match on Monday.

The ex-Gunners midfielder told the Daily Star: "They are a long way behind Liverpool and Manchester City". They lack leaders, they lack quality wingers, quality centre-backs, and a quality left-back.

Once again, defence was a huge area of concern for Arsenal as we conceded 70 goals in all competitions last season so Emery desperately needs to revamp an ageing back-line if we're to become serious challengers again any time soon.

"It's all about investment".

So Unai Emery's search for a left-back seems to have taken him and Arsenal's negotiations team to Scotland, where the excellent Kieran Tierney has been plying his trade with boyhood club Celtic for a few years now.

The Celtic manager Neil Lennon, has basically accepted that one of his best players will be leaving this summer.
