Trump Jr. Unlikely to Comply With Senate Subpoena: Congressional Sources

Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, labeled the Senate Intelligence Committee's issue of a subpoena for the president's eldest son Donald Trump Jr. "I was very surprised", the president said of Trump Jr., who runs the Trump Organization.

McConnell said of Burr's investigation only that the "upcoming report from the Select Committee on Intelligence" would help the Senate determine what it needs to do for election security.

McConnell's comments come one day after his GOP colleague - Sen.

"At some point this is not about finding the facts".

A source familiar with the committee's deliberations said the subpoena went out "weeks ago" and all committee members were aware of it. "This smacks of politics", Cornyn told reporters on Thursday.

Republican committee member Marco Rubio, when asked about Mr Trump Jr, said the panel was "leaving nothing unchecked" in its investigation.

A total of six Republican senators have criticized the committee head, Richard Burr (R-NC), for agreeing to issue the subpoena.

Trump Jr. told the Senate Intelligence Committee in his 2017 testimony that he had not told his father of the infamous meeting.

Durant leaves with right calf strain
The team holds a 3-2 series lead and, though without starters Kevin Durant and DeMarcus Cousins , looks it close-out tonight. Curry must re-emerge as the alpha scorer and lead playmaker, running more pick-and-rolls and taking on a heavier shot load.

Asked whether Burr cleared the subpoena with McConnell in advance, a spokesman for the majority leader said McConnell has not directed Burr or the committee on anything during the probe.

He added: "we ought to just take a deep breath and understand that this episode is coming to an end".

The top Democrat on the Intelligence Committee, Vice Chairman Mark Warner, D-Va., also came to Burr's defense. "It's time to focus on ISSUES, not investigations", he wrote on Twitter.

"I'm very proud of the fact that we're the only committee that's kept bipartisan through this whole investigation", Sen. "And we're going to continue that process", he said. The questions could be about Trump Jr.'s involvement in the Trump Tower project in Moscow, as well as a June 2016 meeting with Russians at Trump Tower. He met with the Senate Judiciary Committee in September of 2017 for more than five hours and with the House Intelligence Committee for more than eight hours in December of 2017.

It is unclear why the committee wants Trump's son to return to testify. He has not publicly responded to the subpoena.

Fox News host Kennedy on Friday said that Donald Trump Jr. had to face the consequences if he mislead Congress during his previous testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee.

In a separate interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday night, McConnell predicted the Senate Intelligence Committee's investigation "is going to have a happy ending".

"My responsibility is to the institution and the equities of the committee, and I'm judged by the product that we produce and how we carry out the investigation", Burr said, adding that he could not let politics "influence what people think of the final report".

"This case is closed".
