Inside the Americas - Will the Venezuelan army remain loyal to Maduro?

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo lashed back at Rep. Ilhan Omar for blaming the U.S. for the violence in Venezuela - calling her comments "ignorant" and "disgusting".

"A lot of the policies that we've put in place has kind of helped lead the devastation in Venezuela", Omar said during an interview with "Democracy Now" this week.

"The nicest thing I could say is it's unbelievable ignorance, it's factually wrong", Pompeo said on Fox News about Omar's comments.

Venezuela has suffered five years of recession marked by shortages of basic necessities and failing public services. When are Democrats going to realize this individual doesn't even vaguely belong in Congress, let alone on the House Foreign Affairs Committee?

"Because the congresswoman doesn't know what she is talking about", Pence answered.

He added that supplies from Russian Federation and China, which have previously provided humanitarian assistance to Venezuela, were on their way to the South American country.
