Griezmann says he is leaving Atletico at end of the season


Antoine Greizmann has announced that he has told Atlético Madrid of his intention to leave the club, opening the door for a €125m (£108m) move to Barcelona this summer.

Atletico can reflect on a period of success for the club with Griezmann playing a key role, the France forward firing them to Europa League glory past year before winning the World Cup with his country. In an emotional video, Griezmann said that he seeks a new challenge and thanked the club and its fans for their support over the half decade which he spent in Spain's capital.

According to MARCA, a deal to take Griezmann to Barcelona was agreed some time ago and is set to be signed soon.

In those five seasons, Atletico have won the Europa League, the Spanish Super Cup and the Uefa Super Cup.

With one game left this season, Griezmann will have completed five years with Atletico, scoring 133 goals in 256 appearances.

The French forward is believed to desire a switch to Barcelona, who were close to signing him last summer.
