Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi mocked Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez' progressive wing of the Democratic Party in a revealing interview over the weekend; saying the freshman Congresswoman's caucus consists of "just five people".
During an appearance on 60 Minutes Sunday evening, Pelosi told CBS's Leslie Stahl that the party has not succumbed to socialism despite the fact that all of its top 2020 presidential contenders have endorsed the elimination of the private health-insurance market.
Stahl pointed out that Ocasio-Cortez and her allies are a viable wing of the party, but Pelosi appeared to minimize their influence.
"That's like five people", fired-back Pelosi.
Pelosi touted her own liberal upbringing and accomplishments representing the deeply Democratic voters of San Francisco.
"No, it's - the progressive group is more than five", Stahl pressed.
Discussing an impeachment resolution introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib last month, Ocasio-Cortez said she'd likely sign on, joining the only other Democratic member to support it, Rep. Al Green of Texas.

"But those are districts that are solidly Democratic".
