Migrant arrests surge at U.S.-Mexico border

The Trump administration announced Saturday that they would cut foreign aid to Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Trump Friday accused the nations of having "set up" migrant caravans and sent them north.

Trump administration officials say a system that allows asylum seekers to remain in the country for years while waiting for their cases to move through a backlogged immigration court system encourages illegal immigration.

"Faced with those limitations, the president will do everything he can", acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told ABC's "This Week" on Sunday. "And our border patrol is overrun", she added.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said Friday his country was doing its part to fight migrant smuggling.

He said a closing of the border would lead to immediate layoffs and result in shortages and price increases at grocery stores and restaurants.

"What we need to realize is until we close that southern border, every town's a border town".

"What we need to do is say all of them have to come to the table on this and this has to stop", Blackburn said. "The executive branch has done so much to try to mitigate these bad circumstances, and we need to send a message back to these countries, too". "It certainly is not a bluff. You can take the president seriously". "The next step is to close the border", he wrote on Saturday on Twitter.

His latest threat had workers and students who frequently cross the border anxious about the potential disruption to their lives. He didn't qualify his threat with "or large sections", stating: "There is a very good likelihood I'll be closing the border next week, and that is just fine with me".

Erdogan Pledges to Focus on Turkey’s Troubled Economy after Electoral Losses
Turkey's economy has been declining following a currency crisis a year ago when the lira lost more than 30% of its value. That means that out of some 10 million ballots cast in the city, the difference at the time was about 5,000 votes.

Judd said the real number, however, is even more troubling.

BREAKING: President Trump considering CLOSING The Southern Border...

Senator Bernie Sanders, a hopeful Democratic presidential candidate for the 2020 election, has called for immigration reform in the wake of a "terrible humanitarian crisis".

CBP expected March to be the highest month for encounters at the southern border in a decade, according to McAleenan. This has overwhelmed the system. The current waiting period is years long.

"By cutting off desperately needed aid, the administration will deprive El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras of critical funds that help stabilize these countries by curbing migration push factors such as violence, gangs, poverty and insecurity".

Mexico is the largest importer of U.S. exports of refined fuels like diesel and gasoline, some of which moves by rail.

Mulvaney said if the three Central American countries do not curb migration to the US, "there's little reason to continue sending them money".

The president, who also cut U.S. aid to three Central American nations whose citizens are fleeing north, emphasised "I am not kidding around" about closing the border, even though such a severe move could hit the economies of both countries.
