Lok Sabha Elections 2019 - Phase 1: Polling for 91 constituencies begins

The votes for the election, being held over seven phases, will be counted on May 23.

Polling also started in eight out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, including Saharanpur, Kairana, Ghaziabad, Baghpat and Gautam Buddha Nagar, four - Aurangabad, Gaya, Nawada and Jamui - out of 40 seats in Bihar and two - Cooch Behar and Alipurduar - out of 42 seats in West Bengal.

A little over 3.93 crore voters in Andhra Pradesh will decide the fortunes of 319 candidates for Lok Sabha seats and 2,118 candidates for Assembly polls. Counting of votes will be held on May 23.

After a fortnight of high-decibel electioneering marked by release of manifestos that were loaded with competitively populist schemes, campaigning for the first phase of the general elections came to an end on Tuesday.

In Muzaffarnagar, RLD chief Ajit Singh will take on BJP's Sanjeev Balyan. From the Sundergarh Lok Sabha seat, the Congress party fields George Tirkey.
