Conservative Watchdog Accuses AOC Aide of Illegally Moving $1M

A former FEC Commissioner, Brad Smith, told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti could face fines and jail time if the FEC finds that they knowingly and willfully tried to funnel the money.

Ocasio-Cortez says her presence in Congress deeply upsets Trump and adds insult to injury.

"Representative Ocasio-Cortez has been quite vocal in condemning so-called dark money, but her own campaign went to great lengths to avoid the sunlight of disclosure", Tom Anderson, the director of NLPC's Government Integrity Project, said in a statement.

Republican election attorney Charlie Spies told TheDCNF: "It looks like the campaign and PAC are under common control and the PAC was funding campaign staff and activities as an alter-ego of the campaign committee, which would be a blatant abuse of the PAC rules".

The Bronx native said she predicted "from day one" that she would be relegated to the "pretty idiot category", which has put her on the receiving end of an onslaught of harassment from internet trolls and Republicans. A separate group filed an FEC complaint about the payments to AOC's boyfriend.

According to the Post, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi scolded her wayward center-leaning colleagues, telling them: "We are either a team or we're not, and we have to make that decision". Such an arrangement could have allowed Ocasio-Cortez's campaign to receive donations in excess of the normal limit, by pooling contributions to both the PAC and the campaign itself.

A group in the United Kingdom called BirthStrike has vowed not to procreate - declaring themselves "on strike" from having children - until the earth "no longer faces global extinction", according to the Times of London.

The report said records show Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti appeared to have controlled, legally, the Justice Democrats group for much of her campaign.

"I think they've got some real issues here".

Chakrabarti's campaigns raised $3.3 million and diverted more than $1 million to his companies, the Washington Examiner reported.

"I remember a time when it was "unacceptable" to question the Iraq War", Ocasio-Cortez tweeted on Monday.

The companies owned by Chakrabarti appear to have been established for the sole goal of hiding how the political donations were used, the Washington Examiner reported.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday denied violating campaign finance law after a conservative government watchdog filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission accusing the Democratic lawmaker and her chief of staff of being part of an "off-the-books operation" to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on candidates past year.

The complaint argues that the arrangement was illegal and skirted a $5,000 PAC contribution requirement.
