Trump, North Korea's Kim to Meet in Vietnam Feb. 27-28

Vietnamese young and old expressed their delight Wednesday after hearing their country had been chosen for the second face-to-face meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

Trump said the meeting would take place in Vietnam Feb. 27-28.

In his latest State of the Union address, the USA president called his relationship with North Korea "a good one" and said his latest attempts to initiate talks were "part of a bold new diplomacy". "And Chairman Kim and I will meet again on February 27 and 28 in Vietnam".

As a single-party communist state, Vietnam boasts tight political control and an efficient security apparatus, and successfully hosted the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in the central coastal city of Da Nang and the regional edition of the World Economic Forum previous year in the capital, Hanoi.

Last month, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Trump and Kim Jong Un, need to move from "abstract" talk to "concrete" action the next time they meet, to speed up their peace process and bridge mistrust.

Trump has touted his first summit with Kim, held last June in Singapore, as a major foreign policy achievement and claimed the country no longer poses a nuclear threat. In that agreement, the US said it would normalize relations with North Korea in exchange for "denuclearization of the Korean peninsula".

Gianluca de Ficchy continued: "We appreciate this will be disappointing for our United Kingdom team and partners". Nissan two years ago agreed to make the SUV in Sunderland after winning government pledges for access to the EU.

"The miracle could be yours", Pompeo said, addressing Kim. A USA official previously told ABC News that the White House would pick one of three cities: Hanoi, Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City.

Trump on Saturday said he wanted to keep American soldiers in Iraq to "watch Iran", but official agreements between the USA and Iraq limit their remit to fighting terrorist groups such as the Islamic State and providing training and tactical advice to Iraqi forces.

Vietnam would be the best host of the event, Kim Eui-kyeom said, citing its checkered history with the United States in which they used to "point a gun and knife at each other". Nuclear testing has stopped. The U.S. and South Korea are attempting to push Kim to abandon his country's nuclear weapons program in exchange for lifting sanctions and normalizing relations with North Korea's repressive government.

"It is contingent on progress of talks between North Korea and the United States but the possibility is low", he said.

US President Donald Trump makes a comment during his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress in the House Chamber of the US Capitol in Washington, DC on February 5.

As compensation, the US might take steps aimed at, "improving US-North Korea relations, building a peace regime and implementing trust-building measures", the report said.
