Newborn rescued from storm drain

Rescue workers worked for three hours to save the baby girl, who had been washed five metres down a drain pipe. First responders were alerted to the emergency when residents reported hearing the cries of a young baby coming from the drain.

Following a nail-biting three-hour rescue mission, Garreth Jamieson of Rescue care confirmed that the little girl was alive and stable.

"An intense rescue operation was started". Police are investigating how the newborn ended up in the storm drain.

The team confirmed that a baby girl was stuck and was being washed further down the pipe. "Our miracle baby was taken out of the drain alive, looking healthy and strong", a relieved Cox said.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described the dramatic moments they discovered the infant trapped inside the drainage system.
