Green Book Dominates Again in Awards Show Race at 2019 Producer's Guild


It's been a whirlwind of an awards season so far, with different films jostling for position as we approach the announcement of the Oscar nominations this week.

Green Book prevailed over films like "Black Panther", "BlacKkKlansman", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Crazy Rich Asians", "The Favourite", "A Quiet Place", "Roma", "A Star Is Born" and "Vice" to win top honours.

The biggest boost went to "Green Book" with best comedy film and screenplay award.Mahershala Ali (R) won the Golden Globes trophy in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture category for "Green Book".

On the TV side, The Americans won drama for its final season, and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel added another award, nabbing the comedy choice.

The PGA Awards has matched the Oscar in the category in 20 of its 29 years.

With Lear, 96, seated in her line of vision, Amy Sherman-Palladino ("Gilmore Girls", "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel") accepted the honor named after him, enthusing: "Dinner and a prize, a Jewish girl's favorite Saturday night".

"I'm so proud to have been your wingman on your maiden voyage", Emmerich said accepting the Milestone Award.

The Award for Outstanding Producer of Game & Competition Television: RuPaul's Drag Race (Season 10), produced by Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, RuPaul Charles, Mandy Salangsang, Steven Corfe, Bruce McCoy, Michele Mills, Jacqueline Wilson, Thairin Smothers, Jen Passovoy, Lisa Steele. "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" won the award for non-fiction television.

The PGA Award was originally established in 1990 to honor the visionaries who produce and execute motion picture and television product.

Along with the Golden Globes on Saturday conferred PGA prices, over the several thousand film producers to the vote shall be considered as the most important indicator for the Oscars.

The fifth season of "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" repeated as the victor of the Live Entertainment and Talk category.

Just about every movie that has won the Producers Guild's top prize has gone on to win the best picture Oscar.
