People with the U by Kotex Sleek tampons in regular absorbency should check the lot number on their box against the list of recalled products on Kimberly-Clark's website.
Kimberly-Clark is voluntarily recalling some of their Kotex products after several women complained that tampons were unraveling inside their bodies and they needed medical assistance to extract them.
The affected products were sold across Canada. Central time Monday through Friday for more information.
Anyone now owning the recalled product is asked to call the Kimberly-Clark Consumer Service team at 1-888-255-3499 between 7:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Retailers have been alerted to remove the lot numbers from shelves and post notifications in stores. Additionally, some consumers have reported infections, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury and other symptoms, the company said.

Consumers who experience vaginal injury (pain, bleeding, or discomfort, ) or vaginal irritation (itching or swelling), urogenital infections (bladder and/or vaginal bacterial and/or yeast infections), or other symptoms such as hot flashes, abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting after use of the product in question should seek immediate medical attention, Kimberly-Clark added.
No other Kotex products are effected by the recall, the company said.
