Manchester United striker Rashford thinks inconsistency is proving costly

Jose Mourinho has come out fighting once again as he prepares his Manchester United team to take on the unbeaten league leaders Liverpool at Anfield this weekend. Find out more here.

"But for sure, I hope - it is better not to say for sure - I hope some will be available but for sure some will not be available".

The England global will not be available for Liverpool's crucial game against arch rivals Manchester United this Sunday, and is also expected to be sidelined for next Friday's match against Wolves.

It no doubt annoys Mourinho that Klopp is seen as more progressive and exciting than he is, and there are admittedly flaws in that perception.

"I felt this from the summer, our second position last season was a fantastic achievement, and people thought that because we finished second, the next season you will be in a situation where you are going to try to do better, and to do better than second is to be champion".

His team have won just eight of those matches, losing nine and drawing the other seven - amassing 31 points from 24 games.

"It was always a hard game to play against them".

"I enjoy. I always say I enjoy these places".

Here, AFP Sports looks at how United have been left behind by Liverpool on and off the pitch in recent months.

"I expect them to receive a strong challenge [from Liverpool] but they should still be in a position to weather that".

"I have to focus not on what happened, not on the credit we were given or not, I have to focus on the next match".

Klopp has been lauded for his attacking style since taking over at Liverpool in 2015 but the United boss reminded his counterpart that real success can only be measured in silverware as he searches for his first trophy as Liverpool manager. Yet somehow this one does feel different, even for an outsider like me.

"I was never interested in the points of Manchester United and I am not today", he said on Friday.

One positive for Mourinho is that United are coming into the game off the back of a victory in the Premier League a resounding 4-1 win against a struggling Fulham side.

"In the league, I think City are looking strong and better than any other team at the moment", Ferdinand added.

Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool now sits at the top of the Premier League table but the German boss has some headaches concerning his side ahead of Manchester United's visit to Anfield on Sunday. "You can be a champion without being champion".
