Top 10 teams unchanged in College Football Playoff rankings


The Mountaineers either need to lose their last two (at Oklahoma State, vs. Oklahoma) or the Sooners need to lose to West Virginia in two weeks.

Alabama, Clemson and Notre Dame took the No. 1 through 3 spots.

The other three Big Ten teams in the top-25 of the rankings were Ohio State at No. 10, Penn State at No. 14 and Northwestern at No. 22.

Four ESPN reporters have chose to pick No. 12 Syracuse to upset No. 3 Notre Dame in NY, as the game is being played at Yankee Stadium.

The Big 12 got some solid respect from the committee. It's not as if Alabama would have a loaded resume, with victories against LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn at the top.

And if Notre Dame's loss is to USC, it could put a spotlight on Washington State's poorly officiated loss to the Trojans back in September by virtue of comparing common opponents. On Thursday, three games are slated, as Toledo travels to Kent State, North Texas hosts FAU, and Houston battles Tulane in a key game for the AAC West. Boise State at New Mexico and Memphis at SMU headline the action on Friday night.
