With California on Fire, Trump Threatens to Withhold Fire Aid
The Woolsey Fire is threatening about 75,000 homes in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles . An additional 35 people had been reported missing and three firefighters had been injured.
While Rod Stewart backed her up, writing: "Mr. President, while people's homes are burning, while lives are being lost & while firefighters are risking their lives, California needs words of support & encouragement, not threats or finger pointing & accusations".
It is estimated that more than 180 homes have perished in the disaster, which threatens Calabasas, Malibu, Agoura, Topanga, Hidden Hills, and West Hills. NBC affiliate KCRA reported that a mobile DNA lab and anthropologists were asked to help identify the dead.
The smaller Hill Fire covered 4,531 acres and was 75 per cent contained. The Woolsey Fire near Los Angeles has killed at least two and has scorched 83,275 acres. There are also sites providing local updates for Los Angeles County, as well as the City of Los Angeles.
Trump said "there is no reason for these massive, deadly and costly fires in California".
"This new abnormal will continue certainly into the next, 10 to 15 to 20 years", he said.
On Sunday, during a trip to France, he tweeted: "With proper Forest Management, we can stop the devastation constantly going on in California".
