Prince Harry and Meghan Markle New Zealand Day 2 highlights


The country is the final stop for the royals who are on a 16-day tour which has seen them also visit Australia, Fiji and Tonga.

Meghan Markle's first joint engagement with the Queen was a major success for the brand new royal, who visited Cheshire with the monarch just a month after marrying Prince Harry - but it nearly wasn't so!

"We are looking forward to welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and taking advantage of the coverage of their visit by the world media to showcase our city", Phil Goff said.

Prince Harry and Meghan looked glamorous as they visited Courtney Creative on Monday night to celebrate Wellington's thriving arts scene.

Standing in front of a large portrait of the Queen, Meghan said the women of New Zealand who fought for their right to vote were "universally admired".

Meghan had been an outspoken supporter of women's rights and equality even before becoming a member of the British royal family, and many predict she will continue to focus her humanitarian work on women's issues.

She went on to add, "Yes, women's suffrage is about feminism, but feminism is about fairness".

Screaming fans lined the pavement as the Royal couple arrived at Courtenay Creative last night - a training centre for creative industries.

It's been said that when Meghan and Harry welcome their child in the new year the separation will be due to happen.

"What protocol! During the walkabout, Harry and Meghan stopped to take a photo with Wellington locals Sophie Hubbard and Hope Watson, both 10".

For a reception at Government House in Wellington, Meghan wore a gorgeous black gown by Gabriela Hearst, which she teamed with a traditional Maori design necklace, a co-ordinating clutch and strappy heels. They quickly spoke about mental health.

The couple will also take part in a trail walk to showcase some of New Zealand's famed scenery.

Department of Conservation ranger Andrew Lamason will be showing Harry and Meghan around the park's bays and says he will talk to them about conservation efforts in the area.
