India win toss, bowl against West Indies in third ODI

In a necessary validation of Jasprit Bumrah's indispensability, India tackled Windies to 283/9 in the third ODI in Pune, after conceding a 300-plus score in each of the first two ODIs of the series.

Emerging wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have been named in both the T20 squads with a possible eye on grooming Dhoni's successor.

MS Dhoni has been dropped from the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against West Indies and the three-match T20I series against Australia in November.

However, chief selector MSK Prasad made it a point to say "it is not the end of Dhoni in T20Is" and added that they are looking to firm up back-up options behind the stumps.

Where will the 3rd ODI between India and West Indies be played?

Kohli lauds Sharma partnership as India thrash West Indies
While Kohli scored 140 runs, Rohit notched up an unbeaten 152, and together stitched a record-hauling partnership of 246 runs. Kohli was adjudged man-of-the-match for his 107-ball knock and the India skipper said he enjoyed his batting today.

India captain Virat Kohli revealed it is "embarrassing" for him to keep talking about his machine-like consistency after the team's 43-run defeat to the West Indies in the third ODI of the ongoing five-match series in Pune on Saturday. Rohit Sharma has once again earned a ticket to Australia. "When someone like Hardik is not playing, who gives you both bowling and batting option, it is hard to get the balance", Kohli said. The all-rounder has not recovered from a back injury that he suffered during the Asia Cup in September.

The player once dubbed "Captain Cool" retired from Tests in 2014 and then relinquished the limited-overs captaincy in 2017.

Other significant announcements include the addition of Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar for the six T20Is. Shai Hope top-scored with 95, impinged just short of successive hundreds by a searing yorker from Bumrah, but the rest of the batsmen couldn't collectively bring themselves to scoring against a revamped Indian bowling attack, that also featured Bhuvneshwar Kumar's return and Khaleel Ahmed's audition.

The fourth ODI will be played on October 29 at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium.
