Elizabeth Warren releases DNA analysis as evidence of Native American heritage

Trump today after Warren released her DNA test results: "Who cares?".

In his report, Bustamante said he analyzed Warren's sample without knowing the identity of the donor. "Native Americans have faced discrimination, neglect and violence for generations", she says in the video.

"I guess Elizabeth Warren is saying that her claim to be Native American is only 99.9 percent false", wrote "Death of a Nation" filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza. In it, she said: "The president likes to call my mom a liar. What do the facts say?" she asks him. Bustamante ran the results and created a full report.

The genealogy group has said it has no conclusive evidence of her ancestry, and a spokesman said Monday it would not comment on the genetic findings. The DNA test, notable for its imprecision, suggests that Warren may have a Native American ancestor somewhere "in the range of 6-10 generations ago".

Fact-checkers could never independently verify her claims because they were based on family lore. I think she's talking about this appropriately, but as a geneticist I want to stress this point: "No DNA test can tell you whether or not you're Native American".

Warren's video makes clear that it is in part a response to Trump's attacks, opening with a clip of the President mocking Warren as "Pocahontas".

Like many Americans, Senator Warren believed she had some modicum of Indigenous heritage way back in her ancestry but no real way to prove anything.

It seems to me that Warren's target audience for this production is the Democratic Party's media adjunct. "I have a feeling she will say no, but we'll hold that for the debates".

Devers then made two great plays at third base, including a do-or-die play to nail Jose Altuve on the run at first base. Cora disagreed with a strike call that resulted in Andrew Benintendi stranding the bases loaded in the fifth inning.

" 'Instead of being like, "Thank you very much, Mr. Trump", or "Trump did a good job", everyone said: "Who got it?"

In September, Warren released personnel files from her appointments at various law schools in the hopes of answering questions about whether she benefited from her Native American ancestry in hiring. After publication, the Globe had to correct its math to say that a tenth-generation relationship meant that Warren had as low as 1/1024 native blood. Trump has often referred to her as Pocahontas, claiming she has lied about her heritage.

President Donald Trump said Monday that he would only be willing to donate $1 million to charity if he could personally test the DNA of Sen. "I'll only do it if I can test her personally", the president told reporters while touring Hurricane Michael damage along the Gulf Coast. "That will not be something that I enjoy doing".

Native American leaders have called Trump's mockery insensitive and an example of prejudice.

Along with the test results Monday, the senator's re-election campaign released a video featuring members of Warren's family talking about their history and reacting to Trump's taunts. And in the middle of the debate, when she proclaims that she is of Indian heritage because her mother said she has high cheekbones - that is her only evidence, her mother said we have high cheekbones.

"Tribal membership is NOT race based", Hopkins wrote in another Tweet, "It's a distinct political classification distinguished by the fact that tribes are sovereign nations that predate the U.S. & made treaties with the US".

"And no one, not even the president of the United States will ever take it away from me", Warren says.
