U.S.,Mexico and Canada to host 2026 World Cup

With the World Cup fast approaching we take...

Mexico and the U.S. have hosted the World Cup for a total of three times between them and it's believed their profit margin was a key decision in the choice. Matches in Mexico will be played in Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara; games in Canada will be played in Toronto, Montreal, and Edmonton, according to Pro Soccer Talk.

Federation Internationale de Football Association now has the final say on which cities are selected to host games and whether all three countries are guaranteed a place at the tournament.

President Donald Trump welcomed the news, tweeting: "The U.S., together with Mexico and Canada, just got the World Cup". "Thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of hosting the World Cup in 2026".

The joint bid won 134 votes (67 percent) out of the 203 entitled to vote with Morocco bagging 65 (33 percent) when voting took place in Moscow early on Wednesday.

The decision will make Mexico the first country to host the tournament three times.

Fyre Festival Founder Billy McFarland Arrested On More Fraud Charges
Greenberg said McFarland was living lavishly with monthlong stays in luxury hotels and excursions to expensive restaurants. Both carry sentences of up to 20 years in prison. "The weight of the evidence here is quite strong", Greenberg said.

The United Bid is expected to generate more than $14 billion in revenue and $11 billion in profits for FIFA, which will be shared with the 211 FIFA Member Associations, helping further develop and expand the game of football across the globe.

The joint bid had been the front-runner for the 48-team tournament from the moment a North American coalition was first mooted two years ago, and there have been spells when it has looked like the only credible candidate.

This is the 5th time the North African nation has failed in its bid to host the World Cup.

This new format will have 16 more teams, and 16 more games to enjoy taking the total from 64 to 80 games. "And our history of hosting extremely successful worldwide soccer games and our enthusiastic fan base gives us confidence that - if selected - Denver and the region would be excited to see the World Cup take place at the Denver Broncos' stadium".

Mexico is grouped with Germany, Sweden and South Korea in the opening round and will need to finish either first or second to proceed to the knockout stages.

The host nations will receive automatic bids to compete in the tournament.
