Rajinikanth's 'Kaala' release: Chennai fans cheer, burst crackers at dawn

It may be noted that when he was to Hyderabad to promote "Dangal" in December 2016, Aamir Khan had revealed that he has always been a fan of Chiranjeevi among the Telugu actors.

Cinema halls, where it was to be screened, refused to show the film, leaving cinema goers, especially diehard fans of the Tamil superstar, disappointed.

The tepid response has led to growing doubts about Rajinikanth's prospects in Tamil Nadu politics, given that Kaala is his first film after he jumped into the political arena. Media sources say that Kaala, which released in over 1,800 screens worldwide on Thursday, has had one of the lowest-recorded openings in recent times for a Rajinikanth-starrer. If the film collects Rs 280 crore more then it will secure a position on the list of 2018's commercial hit films.

Her release was initially confirmed by Jennifer Turner of the American Civil Liberties Union, who is part of Johnson's legal team. Trump confirmed the visit in a tweet: "Great meeting with @ KimKardashian today, talked about prison reform and sentencing".

Also, in the wake of the protest, the screening of the movie has been stalled in Orion mall in Malleswaram, Garuda and Lido malls in Bengaluru central district. Protestors held demonstrations outside theatres in Bengaluru asking fans to not watch the show.

In Karnataka, the film's release was opposed by some organisations after the southern superstar said the Cauvery Management Board (CMB) on the sharing of the Cauvery river water between Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Puducherry, has to be set up. Thalaivar's comments on the Cauvery water dispute upset several Pro-Kannada outfits, who threatened to stage protests in front of theatres screening the film. "Everybody is waiting for the film to be released", the bench told the petitioner's counsel. On Wednesday, Rajinikanth had appealed to Kumaraswamy to provide security at theatres that wished to screen the film. The movie directed by Pa Ranjith also stars Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi.
