Jose Mourinho has decided that David De Gea and Nemanja Matic are the "outstanding candidates" to take over as Manchester United captain from next season, according to reports in the British media.

The Galacticos are planning to spend big this summer and De Gea is part of their plan next season, however, the Red Devils are planning to keep their best player beyond this season.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a return to the Spanish capital for a number of years, with Louis van Gaal coming close to selling the Spain number 1 back in 2015 in exchange for Keylor Navas and a mere £25 million.

"He was playing in the Premier League for years", said Mourinho.

When asked about a potential summer departure for De Gea, the United boss responded: "No chance".

Sanchez joined United from the North London club in January but has got off to a relatively slow start at Old Trafford with just two goals through his first nine games.

But he has steadily improved and produced a particularly effective display against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final, scoring the victor as United triumphed 2-1.

However, still, Jose Mourinho's men have lost the title to arch-rivals City and as of now only settled for a second spot in the league.

"We needed that, a bit more experience, mental aggressiveness".

"After pre-season and after being comfortable and adapted, he'll be great for us".
