Two children killed in Charlotte's second, third homicide of the year

Officials say the mother assaulted her 3 year-old-daughter and 7-year old son earlier Saturday then killed herself by jumping off of a bridge on Interstate 485. They said the victims were two children, and their mom jumped off a bridge.

Police say they have never been called out to this home before, and there were no others inside the residence when officers arrived. Almost an hour later, officers discovered the kids' mother near a highway bridge where she had jumped to her death. A boy who was just seven years old and his baby sister who had just turned three in December were found injured inside the home by police.

Police said they have located the children's father and that he is not a person of interest.
