Reliance Jio launches Republic Day 2018 plans


It may be recalled that Jio had revised its plans earlier this month to offer more data with its popular 1GB data per day recharge packs, and launched new plans with 1.5GB daily data allocation as part of the Happy New Year 2018 offer, where a Jio user will get 500 Mb more data.

Reliance Jio, which has changed the dynamics of price game in telecom sector since its entery, on Tuesday announced a new republic day offer.

Following the announcement, the stocks of Airtel nosedived 5.99 per cent to the day's low of Rs 461.45 while the stock of Idea Cellular fell 5.58 per cent to the day's low of Rs 93.85.

Reliance Jio has also increased data allowances for the previous 1.5GB data per day plans - all these plans now offer 2GB data per day, and also come with a discount of Rs. 50, just like all the other plans from Jio.

Reliance Jio has announced 50% more data on all its tariff plans with effect from January 26, according to company sources. In comparison, Airtel's plan offers 1GB daily 3G/4G data, with validity of 28 days.

The most basic plan now starts at a price of Rs. 98 now, offering users 2GB high-speed data, after which the speeds will be reduced. This offer was a comparison to airtel offer which states that unlimited calls, SMS and 1 GB data regularly. On the other hand, Reliance Jio is giving 3GB data per day with 100 SMS and unlimited local and STD calling, which is valid of 28 days. Airtel also has a similar plan priced at Rs 349 with 2.5GB daily data, but the validity is only 28 days. The Rs. 398 plan gives 70 days validity with 140GB data, while the Rs. 448 plan gives 84 days validity with 168GB data. The plan offers 1.4GB daily 3G/4G data and validity of 82 days.
