Air Force, Army Games Postponed Over Government Shutdown

With the federal government being shut down overnight, the Air Force Academy has cancelled all of its sporting events for the time being. The women were also scheduled to play Air Force at the Save Mart Center Saturday at 2 p.m. Air Force will work to reschedule as many missed events as possible once the shutdown is over.

The far-reaching tentacles of Friday night's government shutdown reached sports on Saturday, as the Air Force Academy announced the cancellation of all future athletic events.

At 9:06 a.m. MT, or about 10 hours after the U.S. Senate's rejection of a funding bill led to a government shutdown, the United States Air Force Academy released a statement saying all athletic events would be canceled until further notice.

The American Forces Network, which broadcasts American radio and television programming in Europe and other locations outside the US, put a message on its Facebook page that said its services would not be available "due to the government shutdown".
