Veterans honored on Memorial Day: Families mark with ceremony at Monument cemetery

Veterans were honored at the Monument cemetery during an annual Memorial Day ceremony.

The names of 94 veterans buried in the cemetery, including Civil War veterans buried there, were read. Six of those veterans whose names were read never made it home from war.

Monument Mayor Travis Easton was the master of the ceremonies and presentation of the flag was by Col. Al Forbes. The honored speaker for the ceremony was Col. Barrie Town.

Many veterans came out to the cemetery to be a part of the ceremony and honor those veterans buried in the cemetery.
