Sheriff's office makes arrest in shooting in Black Forest
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office received a report of a disturbance in the 8700 block of Shipman Lane in Black Forest at approximately 1:04 a.m. on Jan. 9. When deputies arrived they discovered 22-year-old Anthony DeCarlo had been shot twice. Medical personnel transported him to a local hospital for what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
During their investigation detectives determined DeCarlo's father and owner of the residence, 45-year-old Glenn DeCarlo, had a falling out with 24-year-old Matthew Fancher. Fancher is a mutual friend of the DeCarlo's.
Fancher had been living at the address but due to the recent falling out was told by Glenn DeCarlo to move out. Fancher had come to the home to retrieve personal belongings. As he was picking up those items, Glenn DeCarlo allegedly fired multiple rounds at Fancher but struck his son Anthony by mistake.
Glenn DeCarlo has been arrested on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder which is class 2 felony and First Degree Assault which is a class 3 felony. He was booked into the Criminal Justice Center. His bond has been set at $50,000.
