High speed chase ends in Douglas County: Vehicle stolen out of New Mexico, suspect arrested
A high speed chase that started in El Paso County and ended in Douglas County ended with the arrest of the driver of a stolen vehicle.
Trooper Nate Reid, public information officer for the Colorado State Patrol, said the state patrol was alerted to a GMC pickup truck stolen out of New Mexico. The truck was spotted around 10:20 a.m. near mile marker 151 on northbound Interstate 25.
Troopers attempted to pull the driver over but the driver fled and a pursuit began on northbound I-25 with speeds reaching as high as 100 mph.
Four miles south of Castle Rock the vehicle crossed over into the southbound lanes by using the emergency services lane. Reid said the “On Star” that the truck was equipped with stopped the car near mile marker 178.
The suspect got out of the truck and tried to flee on foot but was caught. Dustin Henley, 23, was placed under arrest. Reid said Henley will face vehicle eluding out of El Paso County and most likely vehicle theft in New Mexico.
