Then on Thursday, another photo surfaced of Trudeau in "brownface" from that same party.

"It was not something that represents the person I've become, the leader I try to be, and it was really embarrassing".

Trudeau said he'd be spending Thursday morning talking to his three kids about "taking responsibility for mistakes we make" and talking to visible minority Liberal MPs and candidates.

A third incident has since surfaced with video showing Trudeau in blackface in a wooded area.

Asked whether it was the only such instance, Trudeau admitted that during a high school talent show, he wore makeup while performing a version of Harry Belafonte's "Banana Boat Song (Day-O)", although he didn't explicitly say the makeup was dark.

Images from the event included in the newsletter includes Trudeau's brownface makeup and "racist" costume, originally published by Canadland.

He is also asking Canadians to forgive him. "It was just as racist in 2001 as it is in 2019". When asked if there were any other such incidents, Trudeau said he was "wary of being definitive", claiming that he didn't remember the most recent one revealed. "I think he's got to answer the question why he did that and what does that say about what he thinks about people who, because of who they are, because of the colour of their skin, face challenges and barriers and obstacles in their life", Singh said.

"What I did hurt them, hurt people who shouldn't have to face intolerance and discrimination due to their identity".

Global had reportedly obtained the video from a source earlier in the week and had been trying to verify the video before publishing it.

NDP leader Jagmeet Singh - who is the country's first racialized federal party leader - shared his belief with reporters on Thursday morning that people could "absolutely" grow and learn from past behaviours.

Who is the real Mr. Trudeau?

"I have to recognize that I let a lot of people down with that choice".

Trudeau apologized Wednesday, saying that at the time, he didn't think his actions were racist.

And while the Liberal leader has apologized for the incidents, which occurred almost 20 years ago, Singh is accusing Trudeau of having demonstrated a repeated pattern of such disparaging behaviour more recently.

Scheer also claimed to reporters that he had never dressed in a way that stereotyped someone else's culture, when asked - cautioning that he didn't pretend to be "perfect" but insisting that he'd engaged in nothing "like this".
