Kendrick Norton of NFL Miami Dolphins suffers arm amputation following auto accident

Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Kendrick Norton was involved in a serious vehicle wreck early Thursday morning in Miami that resulted in the amputation of his left arm.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alex Camacho said the Ford F250 driven by the 22-year-old Norton crashed into a concrete barrier on State Road 836 near Miami.

Kendrick Norton of the Miami Dolphins was involved in a auto accident. There was speculation that Norton's injuries could be career-ending, which his agent confirmed.

The Dolphins claimed Norton off waivers from the Panthers in 2018. Multiple sources told Florida radio host Andy Slater that Norton had to his left arm amputated at the scene of the wreck, according to Fox News. There have been very few details to come out about the crash although it is known that he is now in critical condition Miami Jackson Memorial trauma unit.

Norton is listed in serious condition at a Miami-are hospital, though his injuries are not believed to be life threatening. He spent most of the 2018 season on Carolina's practice squad before moving to the Dolphins' practice squad in December.

Norton was a seventh-round draft pick of the Carolina Panthers past year. Additionally, Manny Diaz, the head coach at Norton's alma mater, the University of Miami, tweeted his support, as did the football program.
