North Carolina police say former University of SC and National Football League quarterback Anthony Wright is recovering in the hospital from being shot in a domestic dispute. There they found Wright with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

Wright was listed in stable condition, CPD said.

According to police, Wright and his girlfriend's ex-boyfriend had a verbal spat that escalated when the man came to drop off his daughter.

Emergency services rushed him to surgery and have him in stable condition.

Concord Police have a warrant out for William Moses Hooker Jr. for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He and Jared Lorenzen were Eli Manning's backups in 2007, when the Giants went on a Super Bowl run. Undrafted out of SC in 1999, Wright signed on with the Pittsburgh Steelers before joining the Cowboys in 2000.

Wright retired that year with an 8-11 career record while completing 54.9 per cent of his passes for 3,590 yards, 20 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.

He made five of his 19 career starts during his two-year stay in Dallas, with the rest coming as a member of the Baltimore Ravens (seven starts apiece in 2003 and 2005).
