Cowboys bringing back Morris with Elliott holding out

It's not the first time Zeke has worked out in the Mexican resort city.

Dallas, on the other hand, signed Morris out of desperation.

Elliott, 24, has led the league in rushing in two of his three NFL seasons. He visited during his six-game suspension in 2017 and was seen working out on the beach.

Stephen Young has written about Dallas news for the Observer since 2014.

Morris is by no means a suitable replacement for Elliott.

Jones spoke with CBS 11 Sports on Sunday about Elliott's holdout, and he stopped just barely short of saying he believes the Cowboys could win a Super Bowl without the star running back. He took over as the starter in Elliott's absence in 2017, including a 127-rushing yard effort.

Receiving impact is the sole aspect of running back efficiency which isn't up for debate and why the team is letting the public know to slow down on the conclusion jumping about Morris, a notorious non-factor as a receiver. But he wants a new deal that would make him among the highest paid rushers in the NFL.

However, the circumstances between the two signings could not be any more different. The Cowboys would've been better served taking Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey with the fourth pick of the 2016 draft instead of Elliott. Weber (seventh round from Ohio State) and Jackson are looked at as more well-rounded backs who could be team work horses, as is Chunn. The details of Dallas' offer to Elliott are not known at the present time. The 30-year-old will provide a veteran presence in the backfield, as three of their four running backs on roster have not seen action in an National Football League regular-season game. If he can outshine his younger counterparts, he could easily be RB3, with Weber or Jackson being relegated to the practice squad. He is set to make $3.853 million.

Morris will bring seven-years of experience after playing for the Redskins at the start of his career.
