Area Weather: Possible Heavy Storms Today

Thursday: Partly sunny, with there still being a small chance of rain. Highs will drop to the mid 80s, below normal for this time of year. Even several cities across Central Indiana managed to break into the 100° range with the Feels Like temperatures.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: A 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms mainly in the afternoon/evening hours.

The Chicago National Weather Service has outlined the area most susceptible to the heat/humidity and t-storms on the map below.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny, warming up again. Wind: S 5-15. High: 97. We look to dry out overnight with quiet conditions expected and lows in the mid 70s. Winds will be light, out of the southeast between 5-10 miles per hour.

Sun: High: 94 Sunny to partly cloudy. With some luck, storms will be done by sunset for fireworks displays Saturday night. Afternoon temperatures top out in the mid 90s.and while that's only a few degrees above average, it's hot enough to cause concern for heat-related illnesses.

Sunday starts mostly cloudy and mild.

With high pressure firmly in control, pop-up storms will be held to a minimum and may be hard to come by as we head through the back part of next week.
