Finally "Captain Marvel" also includes many light and amusing moments, while "Dark Phoenix" only achieves semi-solemnity when it's trying to be upbeat. It is her story, a culmination of the character's decades as one of the original X-Men, as the token chick, and being transformed into a hero-a symbol of what makes humanity so special and so promising. "I loved the way that Civil War had its big action action set piece where everyone's facing off more towards the end of the second act rather than in the third, so that after that huge battle, you're left with Winter Soldier, Captain America, and Iron Man".

X-Men: Dark Phoenix had its fair share of rewrites, even in the middle of shooting.
