Kevin Durant made his first appearance on the court for the NBA Finals against the Raptors but unfortunately, he suffered from another injury that seems like it'll take him out for the rest of the NBA Finals.

Warriors general manager Bob Myers, fighting back tears while talking about Durant's injury, confirmed following the game that No. 35 injured his right Achilles.

Myers also said he is willing to accept the blame for the decision to play Durant in Game 5.

"I don't think we've got some moral high ground as Canadians".

"Kevin takes a lot of hits sometimes, but he just wants to play basketball and right now he can't", Myers said.

Although the Golden State Warriors stayed alive thanks to the late game heroics of the Splash Brothers, much of the talk behind their Game 5 victory revolved around the devastating injury to Kevin Durant.

Ironically, the injury that robbed Durant of a possible third consecutive Finals MVP might just be the thing that elevates his reputation at the franchise, especially if they lose the series to the Raptors without him.

Kevin Durant, clearly in discomfort, was down, clutching his right ankle as thousands of Toronto fans in attendance cheered. He looked to be in good shape in the first quarter, combining with Stephen Curry for 25 of the Warriors 34 points. "He went through full shootaround and went back to get treatment", Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

Durant had returned early from his original injury to play, having missed a month of action through a heel injury. "You worry about the conditioning", Kerr said.

The message came from Durant's mother Wanda, who posted an impassioned message aimed at those questioning her son's commitment to the game and to his teammates, following his heartbreaking leg injury on Monday night. "Nobody should have to go through something like that".
