Tuukka Rask is stopping just about any puck playoff opponents can shoot his way - even the ones he doesn't see. He scored a pair of goals for Boston in the Eastern Conference Final, including their first goal of Tuesday night's win.
"I can't wait, very excited", said McAvoy.
But Rask shut the door from there holding the Canes scoreless in the 3rd as the B's held on to win and are now just one win away from a trip to the Stanley Cup Final. It's about timing and patience and all that. And obviously tonight in a hard environment - a team that had a lot of urgency, more than us early on - but I guess right now is probably the best I've seen him play.
The Black and Gold are looking to take a 2-0 lead over the Cane's but will have to accomplish it without one of their forwards.
"So if that's in the zone, then so be it". They endured another five-gamer before 2018-19 was a month old. Boston won each of the first two games at home. With the Sharks and Blues splitting the first two games, this series has the making and feel of going the distance. That includes six by Boston and three by Williams, who also took his team's only two penalties in a 6-2 loss in Game 2.
Down 3-0 in a series against a red hot Bruins team, the Hurricanes face their toughest challenge yet. "We got kicked in the you-know-where".
Yet it didn't matter what the Hurricanes did Tuesday night in an all-out attack on Rask to start the game.
Dating back to the 2016 season, the Hurricanes are 3-2 on home ice against the Bruins, while the home team in this head-to-head series is 9-2 in the last 11 games. It was a harrowing few seconds for Boston coach Bruce Cassidy, who quipped: "I might have had my eyes closed for three of them".
Three bodies found impaled with crossbow bolts in German hotel room
According to local newspaper Passaauer Neue Presse, a police spokesperson said the women were not the man's daughters. The hotel manager said the three victims had not ordered breakfast, but planned to stay for three nights.
"To be as consistent as he has been, that is one of the reasons that four teams advance generally if there goaltender stays consistent the whole way", said Cassidy. The Bruins had their way with the Hurricanes nearly all night other than the first ten minutes of the first period.
Calvin de Haan scored for Carolina.
"He was really good", Brind'Amour said of McElhinney and explaining going with him instead of Petr Mrazek. And Rask said there were shots that he never spotted until the puck hit him.
After getting outshot 20-6 in the first period, the Bruins held a 16-6 advantage in the middle frame.
The start was exactly what the Hurricanes wanted, and more so, needed. It seemed like Williams had a thirst for vengeance with Torey Krug rather than Marchand after both players got matching penalties for throwing punches to the head, holding Krug's stick and then throwing an elbow aimed at Krug's head in the closing minutes of the first period.
"We've done it before", Hurricanes captain Justin Williams said.
Boston hosts one more at home for game 2 on Sunday before heading down to Carolina. Bruins C/Ws Charlie Coyle and Marcus Johansson lead the series with four points each through two games. "A couple of the [Williams penalties] I thought were kind of light... especially this time of year", said Rod Brind'Amour.
After getting run around in the first period, the Bruins brought a much stronger effort in the second and grabbed the game's opening goal just 81 seconds into the period.
