The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven counties. Several municipalities declared snow emergencies Sunday night.

Meanwhile, winter storm watches are in effect for the upper East Coast beginning on Sunday night, with heavier snow possible in some areas.

In a series of maps below, the weather service has outlined how much snow could fall and when different communities should expect it the storm to arrive and depart.

"While the precipitation will end before the Monday morning commute, hazardous conditions should still be occurring from the earlier heavy wet snow and sleet", the statement went on to say. High winds are also expected.

The standard of refereeing on show was distinctly sub-par with two relatively obvious penalty shouts turned down for the Saints. There were several beautifully taken goals, evenly spread across both teams.

Lesser amounts of snow are expected elsewhere in the state.

A Winter Weather Advisory means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency", NWS posted. Expect colder temperatures for the rest of the week ahead.

Snow continues overnight with the low temperature hovering between 30 degrees and the freezing mark. Thursday will be a sunny day with a high near 26, with wind speeds reaching about 25 miles per hour.
