Jazmine Barnes was buried more than a week after the December 30 shooting near Houston when the auto she and her family were riding in was misidentified by two assailants, both of whom have been charged with murder as of Tuesday. The Harris County Sheriff's Office filed capital murder charges against Eric Black Jr., 20, who is African-American.

Woodruffe has six prior convictions, including for assault, drug possession, and illegal possession of a firearm as a felon, Houston station KHOU reported.

Prosecutors said Eric Black Jr. confessed to driving the auto from which Jazmine was shot, and a gun found in his home was consistent with eight shell casings found at the scene.

Investigators allege Woodruffe was the gunman and Black the getaway driver. "King wrote Sunday on Instagram that he received the tip on January 3 that a 20-year-old black man named Eric Black Jr. and another man had shot Barnes".

Her gleaming white casket had "Jazmine "Jazzy Fay" Barnes" printed in purple on the side. The girl's mother, LaPorsha Washington, was shot in the arm and the girl's 15-year-old sister was injured when the window shattered. A second suspect, Larry Woodruffe, has been identified by Harris County prosecutors.

Woodruffe was charged as Jazmine's funeral took place Tuesday afternoon, attended by thousands of people at the Community of Faith Church in Houston.

Authorities say Woodruffe and Black mistakenly thought they were attacking people they had previously fought at a club when they fired at the vehicle with Jazmine and her family.

Two-time Oscar Award victor Kevin Spacey appeared in court on Monday over allegations he sexually assaulted a young man. Mitchell Garabedian, a lawyer for the victim, said he hoped to encourage other victims of sex assault to come forward.

Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said her office will decide at a later date whether to pursue a death penalty or life sentence for the men if they are convicted.

A police sketch and photos of her uncle, who is white, began circulating last Friday as Texas authorities worked to track down Barnes' killers.

More than 2,700 people donated to a GoFundMe set up for Jazmine's funeral expenses and family. Gonzalez said that the tipster had approached writer and activist Shaun King days earlier, and King passed the tip on to police.

As I pointed out yesterday, it turns out the man pictured, who has not been identified yet, was apparently just a witness who fled the scene in his truck when he heard the shots.

"I just want everyone to back off". They shined through moments of darkness at the funeral.

"She wanted to be a teacher, and I'm going to say to you that she's still teaching", Turner said.
