Rumour mill: Gunners launch bid for Real Madrid star

Arsenal are among the leading pack in the race to sign Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas during the January transfer window and have even made a €16m offer for the Costa Rica global, according to reports in Spain.

The 32-year-old Costa Rica worldwide has been recently linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium with former Chelsea man Thibaut Courtois now established as first-choice at Madrid.

But Emery - who often does not speak about transfer speculation - was bullish when asked if a move for Navas was on the cards.

The report went as far as suggesting that Emery's side had lodged a €16 million (£14m/$18m) bid and that the player had already said his goodbyes to his Madrid team-mates.

Yankees, Troy Tulowitzki Agree Upon Minimum Deal
They will pay the majority of his $20 million contract, with the Yankees responsible only for the league-minimum $555,000. Tulowitzki idolized retired Yankees captain Derek Jeter and has worn No. 2 in his honour.

Arsenal have tabled a formal £14m offer for Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to a report.

With his contract due to expire this summer, the Welshman has been tipped to leave on a free and Juventus have confirmed their interest in signing him.

While he would certainly be an upgrade on Bernd Leno, who looks more and more like the second coming of Loris Karius with every Arsenal defeat, but it would represent incredibly short term thinking from Arsenal if they were to cast him aside after just half a season. On Tuesday, he scored when he played 15 minutes, and he gave a good performance.

Emery was speaking ahead of Arsenal's third-round FA Cup clash with Blackpool on Saturday, in what will be the Spaniard's first taste of FA Cup action. But I want him in the present with us.
