Pence: Trump got the 'impression' that past presidents wanted wall

US President Donald Trump is set to argue that an immigration "crisis" requires his long-promised wall along the Mexican border.

All the major over-the-air networks, as well as cable news channels Fox News and CNN, plan to carry the Trump speech, according to company representatives.

The speeches will air starting at 9:00 p.m.

President Donald Trump insists a wall be built on the U.S. -Mexico border to maintain national security. "If the president hasn't been able to convince the public up until this point, it's hard to see that an address tonight will do the trick". Trump has scheduled a trip to the border Thursday to highlight his demands for a wall.

It's unclear if any of the networks will give Democrats "equal time" after Trump makes his address. The first would be the Treasury Department, to ensure people receive their tax refunds.

The IRS may recall a large number of furloughed employees to process returns - probably without pay - in accordance with its contingency plans.

Vought says the administration is changing the customary rules "from past administrations".

"I have not discussed the border wall with President Trump, and do not support him on the issue", Mr. Carter said in a statement issued by the Carter Center. It may have been a tactic created to push Democrats to do a deal but Trump's opponents said such a move would be, in the words of congressman Adam Schiff, a "non-starter", subject to fierce opposition and legal challenges.

Rafael Benitez's side have only won one of their last seven matches and began the round of fixtures sitting just three points above the relegation zone.

The stalemate over spending on border security has resulted in the partial government shutdown, now in Day 17.

He said he and Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen would brief lawmakers at the Capitol on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The House, with a new Democratic majority, passed appropriations in January that did not include wall funding but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said he wouldn't bring it to the Senate floor because of a lack of Republican support.

Democrats say other border security measures are more efficient and cost-effective than a wall, which they say is contrary to American values.

Warner also said he's anxious "about the fact that our Coast Guard, who's not been paid for weeks, is supposed to be interdicting both undocumented immigrants and drugs and narcotics". And Trump has threatened to drag on the shutdown for months or even years if he does not get funding for the border wall. The Democrats' unwillingness to appropriate funding for a border wall led to the shutdown. The National Park Service said it was dipping into entrance fees to pay for staffing at some highly visited parks to maintain restrooms, remove up trash and patrol the grounds, after reports of human waste and garbage overflowing in some spots.

The shutdown has lasted more than two weeks so far with little indication it will end anytime soon.

"This should have been done by all of the presidents that preceded me", Trump said.

The White House did not provide details of Mr Trump's trip, but the planned visit will likely highlight security concerns pushed by the administration as justification for building a wall along the United States border with Mexico.
